“Beat-driven but given to richly textured sound design, rhythmically fractured but melodi-cally sumptuous, Shigeto’s music is a bridge between the past and present, bringing the artist face to face with a creative legacy that spans decades.” – Resident Advisor
Astral People are proud to present Ghostly Internationals Detroit beat king Shigeto
Brought up on a steady diet of Michigan-bred music and crates of old Mowtown and jazz records, Shigeto is a pioneer in experimental electronica, continuing to push boundaries with his signature ambient and textured sound.
Having already toured with the likes of Bonobo, Tycho and Slow Magic, landed coveted spots with Red Bull Music Academy and Boiler Room, and been signed to US label Ghostly International, Shigeto has established his place as an ingenious artist that is a force to be reckoned with. His highly acclaimed 2013 album No Better Time Than Now received an impressive 4/5 rating from international tastemaker Resident Advisor, further fuelling the anticipation surrounding the October release of his upcoming EP Intermission.
With Thom Yorke watching side of stage for his infamous performance at OutsideIn Festival 2012 to his raucous performance at Strawberry Fields the following year, we can’t wait to see Shigeto behind the kit for what is expected to be a phenomenal third visit down under.
