“Techno is not dead dammit!”
A champion of analogue feeling and vinyl sensibility, Omar-S’ story as an artist is told through a catalogue of tough-as-nails Detroit techno over an emotionally unstable background. From hand labeled self-pressings to sought after cult classics, his acclaimed solo work (created over the span of a decade) includes the highly rotated ‘Here’s Your Trance Now Dance’ and collaborations with Ob Ignitt (Wayne Country Hill Cop pt.2) & L’Renee (S.E.X/Tonite).
Almost entirely self-released on his ‘FXHE’ imprint – a label devoted to bringing the best of Michigan to the world – Omar’s most distinctive works have come within his solo albums, including 2005’s ‘Just Ask the Lonely’ and his most recent offering, the stunning ‘Thank You for Letting Me Be Myself’. Working as an engineer for Theo Parrish whilst releasing through his ‘Sound Signature’ imprint, he remains an integral part of Detroit’s long-standing dance legacy.
Stunning crowds from Watergate in Berlin to Sankeys in the UK, Omar solidified his place in dance history with a unique entry in the impeccable FabricLIVE mix series, created entirely from his own productions. Touring Australia for the first time in four years, Omar-S will continue to spread his vision of dance music as one of the worlds most acclaimed DJ’s and dancefloor engineers.
It can be done, but only he can do it
