Considered a pioneer of Detroit house and techno, Omar S has earned global acclaim for his distinctive stripped back approach. The well-established producer has curated a compelling sound that is completely his own, equally famed for his funky sets as his solo productions. Releases on his own FXHE Records and Theo Parrish’s Sound Signature imprints have proved game-changing within the industry, and with an imminent fifth studio album due in early 2016, Omar-S will continue to shape the modern house landscape.

With a steady string of releases on his own FXHE Records imprint since 2003, Omar S’s catalogue is an extensive collection of immersive house grooves. The producer’s break-out single “Psychotic Photosynthesis”, hailed by Resident Advisor as “the best track of the past ten years”, introduced the world his signature style of old-school synths and slow-burning rhythms. Collaborations with veteran Theo Parrish and a career-defining mix for the Fabric 45 compilation add another dimension to his collection. His most recent LPs ‘It Can Be Done But Only I Can Do It’ and ‘Thank You For Letting Me Be Myself’ exemplify the diversity of the Detroit native’s talents, with the latter earning a respectable 7.5/10 from tastemaker Pitchfork and Resident Advisor praising it as a house “bounty that only this guy could deliver”. Last year saw the Detroit don’s reputation expand even further, handpicked by industry heavyweights Dekmantel, Red Bull Music Academy and Thump to perform at various high-profile events around the globe. This year saw the release of his fifth album ‘The Best’ which featured collaborations with Tom Bugs, Amp Fiddler, Diviniti & John F.M. This year has been huge for the long-running house producer and we can’t wait to see what 2017 holds for him.
