“Big K.R.I.T. has an expansive warmth present within his music which runs classic soul-sampling Southern rap production through a stoned haze that has at least a few things in common with J Dilla.” – Pitchfork
“One of the most gifted rappers living on this wretched ball of blue called Earth.” – Billboard 4 ½ Stars
Astral People and Handsome Tours are proud to announce the debut Australian tour of Def Jam signee and Mississippi native Big K.R.I.T., who will hit our shores this September with shows in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
The announce comes hot on the heels of K.R.I.T.’s collaboration with Australian beats duo, Hermitude, whose own album ‘Dark Night Sweet Light’ hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart upon its debut in May. A reworked version of triple j smash single “The Buzz” featuring Big K.R.I.T. is the lead single from the international edition of the album: Listen Here
“Working with K.R.I.T. was dope,” Hermitude told Spin Magazine. “He was such a humble, professional and all-around nice dude. The feel was relaxed when we first stepped in the room, and shit really started vibing when he stepped in the booth. It reminds you how music really is a universal language and something we can all connect over, you know.”
Big K.R.I.T. released his second studio album, ‘Cadillactica’, in November 2014 on Def Jam (Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Common), with guests including Lupe Fiasco, Bun B, Devin The Dude, E-40 and Wiz Khalifa. The album received universal acclaim from critics, with industry heavyweight Billboard calling K.R.I.T. “one of the most gifted rappers living on this wretched ball of blue called Earth.”
Big K.R.I.T.’s unique sound has been acclaimed from the early beginnings of his career, with Pitchfork noting the expansive warmth present within his music “which runs classic soul-sampling Southern rap production through a stoned haze that has at least a few things in common with J Dilla”.
Following five years of consistent success and shows throughout Europe and the US, Big K.R.I.T. is finally launching his debut Australian tour this September.
K.R.I.T will be joined at all headline shows with Melbourne duo, Milwaukee Banks.
