Astral People announce Jack Toohey as their first non-music management client.

The criteria for any new ventures that Astral has moved into has always been the same, it needs to happen organically, never forced. This was the case with Astral People Recordings, our Publishing arm and the JV with Handsome Tours, each felt like a natural progression with teams that we had worked with for years and respected deeply. This step into new territory with Jack Toohey is no different.

A long time friend of Astral's, Jack took some of the first official photos of our directors Vichara Edirisinghe and Tom Huggett back in their first office in 2012. From photographing Astral festivals, our artist's press pics and music videos, we've worked side by side in two separate office buildings and watched each other's businesses and careers grow from the early days.

Cut to early 2023, after a career change for Jack and a decision to take some time off to travel rural Australia, a video he posted about the housing crisis began picking up steam on the internet. Gaining traction rapidly around Australia and internationally, this video began racking up hundreds of thousands of views and then millions across Instagram and TikTok. It led to a string of TV appearances and launched him into the public consciousness as a voice advocating for the masses.

After touching base with Jack in this new landscape he found himself in, it felt like an easy move to take our long standing relationship into an official management capacity. A people and planet advocate who's medium spreads across short form social content (Housing Crisis), longer form documentaries (Can beer be better for the planet?), his written work (The Politics) and audio only ventures on the horizon.

This partnership has been new territory for both of us and marks the start of an exciting chapter.
