Hot off the release of their long awaited new album Yesteryear, Sydney’s favourite electro twins Cosmo’s Midnight are set to give their hometown the very first taste of their ambitious new sound as they light up the Joan Sutherland Theatre with their infectious summer vibe for one night only.
Since breaking out with their remix of Flume’s “Sleepless” in 2012, Inner West brothers Patrick and Cosmo Liney have gone from DIY Soundcloud craftsmen to full-blown multi-instrumental performers, riding their infectious mix of glistening beats, R&B and pop to 225 million streams, five gold records (including the hit “Walk With Me’, with KUČKA), and a global following that stretches from the beaches of Bondi to the clubs of Los Angeles (Pharrell is a fan.) Building on the success of their 2018 debut What Comes Next, the duo’s latest, Yesteryear, is their most accomplished, boundary-pushing record to date: a unique fusion of organic and digital pop that’s at once nostalgic and progressive, with its smash lead single “C.U.D.I.”, a collaboration with teen sensation Ruel (“Down For You”), and guest spots from Winston Surfshirt, Matthew Young, and age.sex.location.
With their heady mix of beats, R&B and timeless pop that evokes both the sounds of the 60s, 70s, 80s and the future, there’s no better way to welcome the summer than with the city’s favourite electropop sons.
