One of Australia’s most beloved duos, Cosmo’s Midnight return today with their latest offering, ‘Gimme Some More’ featuring Shungudzo.
‘Gimme Some More’ reflects Cosmo’s Midnight at their finest, combining funk fuelled basslines, shimmery synths and a beloved 80s disco sample discovered by the pair over 10 years ago. Linking up with Shungudzo on vocals, ‘Gimme Some More’ is effortlessly immersive, subconsciously drawing you into the track’s sun-drenched palette. Combining their distinct production and skilfully drawing upon decades of dance music, ‘Gimme Some More’ showcases the Pat and Cosmo’s process of wholeheartedly leaning into the artists they fell in love with as young music fans.
Cosmo’s Midnight on the single: “Put simply, ‘Gimme Some More’ is about seeking a deeper connection with a lover or friend. About offering someone the best and the realest love you've got - so long as they can offer the same to you.
We actually met [Shungudzo] in Sydney when we wrote ‘Have It All’. We instantly hit it off, sharing very aligned taste and inspiration in music and artistry. Having a personal connection to artists is so important when it comes to collaboration. She flows so effortlessly and naturally, has a beautifully unique voice and is also an incredible lyricist and poet.”
Shungudzo on the single: “I wrote ‘Gimme Some More’ about offering someone the best and the realestlove you've got -- so long as can offer the same to you. No pain, no games, no waiting three days to call back to just maintain some sorta sicko power dynamic. We all have so much real and beautiful stuff to offer to each other, and we should do just that in opposition to a world that teaches us to water ourselves up and down -- to play hide and seek with ourselves and others -- for likes and love.” ‘Gimme Some More’ arrives as the first taste of new music since their 2022 singles ‘Bang My Line’ featuring Tkay Maidza and ‘Can’t Do Without My Baby’. Prior to this, the pair released their ARIA-nominated sophomore album Yesteryear, following on from their critically acclaimed debut album, What Comes Next. Additionally, the duo have collaborated with artists such as KUČKA, Winston Surfshirt, Ruel and many more, culminating in a whopping half a billion streams across their entire catalogue. Beyond their own music, the pair have worked with an incredible line-up of talent, having produced for global superstars BTS on ‘Fly To My Room’ as well as remixes for the likes of Flume, HONNE, Goldlink and more.
