Collarbones Release New Single 'Deep' & Announce Album & Tour

Boundary-pushing duo Collarbones (aka Sydney’s Marcus Whale and Adelaide’s Travis Cook), are back with their brand new single “Deep, out 2 August. The mammoth track arrives with the announcement of their latest album Futurity, due for release on Friday, September 6 alongside a pair of tour dates across Sydney and Melbourne only.

Set to feature in the forthcoming album and live shows, “Deep” delivers the most essential Collarbones. A pungent, driving bassline collides with the gravity of Whale’s vocal range for an ethereal, club-ready ballad, fraught with an intensity that can only speak for a most intimate fragility. Tortured, lavish in sonic complexity and juxtaposed with words of all-consuming love, Collarbones continue to hack into the deep corners of emotion while enveloping club music takes hold.

The new single joins the string of recently released tracks “Voyeur”, ”The Gate”, “Everything I Want” and “A.I.” which are set to feature on the album. Receiving praise from The Guardian, Acclaim, Junkee, i-D, Purple Sneakers and more, the singles have collectively laid the foundations for their illustrious return following a two-year release hiatus. The culmination of a new phase in the longstanding interstate partnership, Collarbones’ highly-anticipated fourth album Futurity marks their first full length release in five years since 2014’s modern electronic-pop masterpiece Return.

To celebrate, the interstate pair will be returning to the stage this September to tour the album with two headline shows at Melbourne’s The Curtin on Saturday 21 September, followed by The Lansdowne in Sydney on Friday 27 September.

Having collaborated for 11 years since meeting on a post-rock online message board, the duo are known by fans for their incredible stage shows. Having released three albums of sinewy electronic pop music across their career, the pair are seasoned performers in any venue that comes their way, performing across Australia in packed club nights, seated theatres and festival stages, including a cameo at Flume’s Vivid Live headline show at Sydney Opera House and Los Angeles’ FYF Fest. With their return in full swing and a fresh LP on the horizon, 2019 is shaping up to be a momentous year for Collarbones. Don’t miss catching their new music live this September.
