The totally unstoppable duo Collarbones have announced the release of new single “Wish Me Luck” feat. Banoffee, out on Friday 30 August. The track is the latest release taken from their long-awaited fourth studio album Futurity, due for release on Friday 6 September. 

“Wish Me Luck” tackles the messy ending of an ugly romantic entanglement, overlaying Whale’s emotive cries with the angelic vocals of Melbourne-based vocalist, track co-producer and close friend Banoffee. Initially written back in 2016, the ballad stirs melancholy synths against slowed-down and syncopated beats, in a soundscape that shines at the medium between trademark touches from each artist. 

Whale explains: "Wish Me Luck" is one of the final songs I ever wrote about a particular ex of mine. I convinced myself I was a bad person in the wake of my many breakups with him, but still always wanted so deeply to be back with him, as unhealthy as it was for both of us. This song is a rendering of that quite ugly feeling.

‍The duo, aka Sydney’s Marcus Whale and Adelaide’s Travis Cook, will return to the stage in September to tour their latest collaborations with two headline shows at Melbourne’s The Curtin on Saturday 21 September, followed by The Lansdowne in Sydney on Friday 27 September.

‍The new single will join previously released tracks “Deep”, “Voyeur”, “Everything I Want” and “A.I” in the diverse line-up on Collarbone’s much-awaited fourth studio album Futurity, their first in five years since the modern electronic pop masterpiece of Return in 2014. Having worked together for 11 years since meeting on a post-rock online message board, Collarbones are known by fans for their incredible stage shows. Having released three albums of sinewy electronic pop music across their career, the pair are seasoned performers in any venue that comes their way, performing across Australia in packed club nights, seated theatres and festival stages, including a cameo at Flume’s Vivid Live headline show at Sydney Opera House and Los Angeles’ FYF Fest.

‍With a new track under their belts, merging signature storytelling with the textured vocals and alluring beats of co-producer Banoffee, Collarbones are paving the way to showcasing their most dynamic output yet on forthcoming LP Futurity.
