NIGHT SLUGS

After an extensive wait and countless requests, Sydney artist group Astral People are proud to present by far the most anticipated tour of the year, as NIGHT SLUGS (L-Vis 1990 & Bok Bok) touch down for an official Australian label tour. Bringing their futurist club sounds to Australia for the first time, this will mark by far one of the biggest club music events of the year.

The Night Slugs name first came into existence in early 2008 when, inspired by a variety of experimental club music from around the globe, the duo linked up to start a club night dedicated to a brand new hybrid sound. This new aesthetic fused international gutter house styles with London’s unique soundsystem heritage, with an emphasis on innovation, breaking new producers, debuting fresh tracks, uncompromising bass weight and above all, a functionalist dancefloor-friendly vibe. Besides their still-regular London night becoming a staple of the scene, the Night Slugs record label has remained at the forefront of innovative and progressive electronic music to which all others are compared. Responsible for some of the biggest club releases of the last three years (whilst debuting the artists responsible), the Night Slugs sound has become synonymous with trends for the months following.

From Lil’ Silva’s rugged grime interpretation ‘Pulse vs. Flex’ to Jam City’s liquid industrial banger ‘Magic Drops’ and of course the inescapable nature of Girl Unit’s massive ‘Wut’, Night Slugs is crystal club music for the stars and beyond. As individual producers, both Bok Bok & L-Vis 1990 have reached the top of their game through a steady mix of high-grade club anthems and interpretations of the sounds that inspired them. Bok Bok’s early-era “Ripe Banana” and “Citizens Dub” aved his grime sensibilities to this years ‘Southside EP’, revealing a developed respect for house, techno and the darker side of global club music from the last two decades. L-Vis 1990 has followed a similar path, melding UK-Funky’s dancefloor devastation with a love for classic house and pop music into several EP’s and a debut album. Moving into the future, the label (and it’s owners) continue to uncover the darker shades of global dance cultures, unveiling new acts, creating new sounds and, above all, keeping the dancefloor moving. Touring Australia together for the first time, the duo will be repping Night Slugs in full, playing the legendary back to back sets that have taken them from UK radio staple RinseFM to festival and support slots throughout the biggest events in the world. Just make sure the subs are ready for it… L-Vis 1990 & Bok Bok (Night Slugs) @ Boiler Room, July 2012
