Sydney’s Winston Surfshirt roar into the mid-year with new single “Make A Move”, out today via Sweat It Out. The single arrives at the halfway point in their national Baked Goods tour, a tribute to the band’s roots in raucous live shows that have shaped their cult following.
“Make A Move” presents a new, upbeat chapter in the act’s many-hued catalogue. Strong bass flicks set a fresh back beat pace to their signature hip hop style and soulful horns, debuting an evolved sound that will leave you craving more. Bound to the lower body groove, the track’s vibrant tempo and nods to old-school funk and R&B have already seen approval from thousands of fans across the first leg of their tour.

Currently in the midst of their biggest headline tour yet with sell-outs at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre, Newcastle’s Cambridge Hotel and Wollongong’s UOW Bandroom, the band will next bring the energy tonight at Melbourne's The Forum. Next week, on Friday June 21, the six-piece land at Adelaide’s HQbefore crossing to Perth’s Metropolis on Saturday June 22. A tour finale occurs on Friday, June 28 at Tivoli in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.
Further showcasing their unique blend of musicality, Winston Surfshirt’s most recent single “For The Record” marked their first new music since a highly applauded 16-track debut record, Sponge Cake. The 2017 LP featured their debut Gold-certified single "Be About You", and received nods from international tastemakers Beats 1 Zane Lowe and Sir Elton John, Jason Bentley (KCRW), Huw Stephens & Phil Taggart (BBC Radio 1) and Lauren Laverne (BBC Radio 6), alongside earning triple j feature album. They went on to sell out all 10 shows across the country on their Australian Sponge Cake tour, followed by festival billings at Splendour In The Grass, Spilt Milk, Falls Festival, Field Day& This That, before heading overseas and selling out shows across London and Europe.
