Keeping Sydney high on the 1’s and 2’s no matter the lows, Astral People are returning with another Vivid LIVE Studio Party on June 1st. Following Detroit’s own Omar-S, Fingers Inc. phenom Robert Owens and introducing local favourites like Cassius Select, Dro Carey and Ben Fester to the Opera House. Astral People now go full New York disco mode with legend of The Loft Danny Krivit alongside the Queen of 45’s, Natasha Diggs. Joined by Sydney’s own globe-trotting wax specialist Lauren Hansom, catch Astral People rinse the club clean once again at Vivid LIVE.
Danny Krivit kicked off his DJ career at The Ninth Circle, in the West Village, where he began lifelong friendships with DJs David Mancuso and Larry Levan. Throughout the 80s and 90s, Danny commanded legendary status amongst young and old, DJing at Area, Danceteria, The Limelight, Mars, Palladium, The Loft, and a guest spot at the legendary Paradise Garage. At its inception in 1996, Danny joined the Body and Soul team, alongside friends Joaquin ‘Joe’ Claussell and François K, and has regularly played the party ever since. Since 2002, Krivit has been resident DJ at NYC’s soulful phenomenon, 718 Sessions. A truly remarkable part of DJ history, this is a show that must be witnessed.
Natasha Diggs (NYC/SOULINTHEHORN) has become known as one of the most versatile and well respected DJs in the world, having played alongside or opened for artists such as Erykah Badu, Mark Ronson, Grandmaster Flash, Ms. Lauryn Hill and D'Angelo and the Vanguard. When she's not traversing the globe, Natasha can be found holding down the decks at her weekly NYC residency “SoulintheHorn,” the city’s premiere dance party and live music showcase.
Lauren Hansom is a Sydney-grown DJ who first started as a co-host on FBi’s Spin The Bottle show, and has since gained support from artists like Tako, Jan Schulte, Palms Trax, John Talabot, Beesmunt Soundsystem, Zaltan, Jayda G and Noise In My Head.
We can't wait to bring two of NYC's most legendary DJs to the depths of the Sydney Opera House, for a night of disco we promise you won't forget.
