SUMMER DANCE ~ A series of outdoor parties in the heart of our city

Jan 25 – Sunday – Mister Saturday Night (US) + Tornado Wallace + Mike Who + Madga Bytnerowicz

Tickets & Info ~

After holding out at house parties, clubs and warehouses all winter long, we now give you the much needed answer to a long-overdue season of outdoor celebrating: Summer Dance. Combining forces with Sydney’s National Art School, we present to you a run of Sunday sessions bound to be the highlight of your summer.

The collaborative effort between the Astral team and the National Art School will see at least three DJs take the stage each day/night for extended sets throughout December to February. Kicking off the series is pioneer of modern underground house Vakula, followed by a classic boogie / funk set from infamous hip hop DJ House Shoes, a house and techno lesson courtesy of fellow Detroit legend Omar-S, iconic block party vibes of NYC daytime party institution Mister Saturday Night, sun-kissed UK Garage sounds of DJ EZ, before the sun comes down on the series with an epic set from Moodymann. Local heroes sporting day-to-night couture and compositions include Tornado Wallace, Andras Fox, Simon Caldwell, Otologic, Ben Fester & Preacha amongst others.

The sandstone buildings, lush green grass and age-old trees that typically make up the beautiful surroundings of Sydney’s heritage listed National Art School, will be turning into a fully fledged music venue for the first time ever this December. With parties planned to happen twice a month, Summer Dance is sure to draw the nightwalkers out of sweaty underground confines and rave caves, to give them a taste of life as a day dweller and provide them with the ultimate Sunday sunset vibes; premium line ups, great food and discerning drinks.

Mister Saturday Night is the party and record label helmed by New York City’s Justin Carter and Eamon Harkin. Striving to be a little more than a regular party, the Mister’s have carved an adored space in NYC dancing with their no-frills, impeccably programmed DJ sets and loft-parties, known to be frequented by the likes of Four Tet, Todd Terje and Moodymann (Floating Points himself named his harmonic anthem ‘Myrtle Avenue’ after the street one their party was thrown on). Having launched an acclaimed record label – home to the likes of Anthony Naples, Dark Sky and Archie Pelago – the Mister’s acclaimed DJ skills are in demand around the globe for making the dance floor feel like home from start to finish.

Making their first ever detour in Australia, there is no one better to represent summer in the city quite like the Mister’s.
