Astral People Stage @ Subsonic Music Festival – Riverwood Downs Mountain Valley Resort – Sunday 8th December 2013

As part of their enormously talented lineup, the very fresh Subsonic festival have invited Astral People to curate a stage of locked grooves for their imminent three-day festival. Keeping things strictly for the dancefloor, we’re very excited to present a collision of sound with UK-pioneer ZED BIAS, London-innovator and DJ Oneman, bizarre NYC rapper/partystarter LE1F and Garage legend DJ EZ.

ONEMAN (UK – RinseFM – 502 Recordings)

A figure synonymous with Rinse.FM and the culture behind it, Oneman (aka Steve Bishop) has taken his Garage origins and perfected them into an aggressive blend of unpredictability. Whilst DJing and remixing with Jamie XX and Four Tet, he’s backed up compilations for Rinse.FM and FabricLIVE with his newly-minted Solitaire mix series, all whilst running his very own forward thinking label in 502 Recordings. As always with Oneman, expect the unexpected.

DJ EZ (UK – KissFM)

DJ EZ’s accuracy behind the booth is credited to some 20-years experience as a DJ and Radio host for the likes of Dimensions and KissFM. A fellow graduate of London’s Pirate Radio boom of the early 90s, EZ’s ‘Pure Garage’ Compilations have been some of the best-selling mixtapes on the UK Charts. A figurehead and ground breaker, it’s a well known fact that the party only starts when EZ shows up.

In a world full of rappers claiming to be one of a kind, LE1F is a real deal original, a fascinatingly complicated personality full of seeming contradictions.

A Manhattan native who earned a degree in dance from Wesleyan, L1EF’s “deep-voice, fast tongued twerk-kondo” is an intriguing, bizarre and exciting force in the modern Rap world. Following the release of his latest “Tree House Mixtape” (featuring a slew of underground superheroes including FaltyDL and Junglepussy), he has taken his compelling brand worldwide, including two (!) Australian tours this year. You ain’t seen nuthin’ yet!

Breaking the charts with his bonafide anthem ‘Neighbourhood’ in 2000, Zed Bias has pioneered modern club music over an illustrious 14 year career. A highly regarded DJ and producer favourited by the likes of Kode9, Annie Mac and Julio Bashmore, Bias’ productions (under monikers including Funk Bias, Phuturistix and more) have been credited with founding early-era Garage and Dubstep. Including his groundbreaking albums under the name Maddslinky, Bias has carved his sound through (his own) Sidestepper and Sidewinder Records, as well as fellow visionary labels including Tru Thoughts, XL and Swamp 81 (where a hotly anticipated 3rd Maddslinky release will soon see the light of day). A bonafide legend of the scene, this is one you simply cannot miss.

These international luminaries are joined by the toast of Sydney’s future-tinged underground, including hypnotic-duo Cosmo’s Midnight (DJ Set), low-end homewreckers Cliques, Seth Troxler-endorsed ALBA, Cassius Select and DJs including Garage Pressure, Mike Who, Ben Fester and many more. This has ‘throwdown of the year’ written all over it, so grab yourself a ticket to Subsonic and brace yourself for the night of a lifetime.
