Sydney-based vocalist and producer Alex Ward’s music is emotive and textural. Continually developing her sound since her debut on Future Classic in 2011, Alex’s solo project Moon Holiday has been picking up momentum, coming into its own again in 2015.
From an early collaboration with Flume on the 2012 track ‘Insane ft. Moon Holiday’, Ward went on to win Fbi Radio’s Northern Lights competition, traveling to Iceland’s Airwaves Festival, showcasing her unique sound within the glass walls of Reykjavik’s stunning Harpa concert hall and working with local electronic artists Samaris to produce the track ‘Pull It Closer’. Performing in Vivid Festival’s ‘Stop the Virgens’ psycho-opera beside a cast of high profile international musicians and local female singers in 2013, it’s been an eventful and varied background for this artist.
More recently, Moon Holiday co-headlined a national tour with Cassius Select and was nominated for Fbi Click’s ‘Producer of the Year’ SMAC award, alongside Eugene Ward, Lavurn Lee, Basenji and others (Basenji won that one!). Taking out the top spot in Triple J Unearthed’s annual competition led to a performance of new live material at Sydney’s Field Day 2015, followed by the release of by singles ‘Rid U’ and ‘Prince’ from EP ‘II Life’.
Late 2016 sees Moon Holiday supporting fellow Astral sister Rainbow Chan on her ‘Spacings’ Australian tour.
